Default What is going on with my car!?

Something really odd has been going on with the TA recently, whenever I get off the highway I push the clutch in and just coast till I have to stop. But recently whenever I do this my RPM's rise to about 2-2.5 and stay that way till I get to about 20 MPH and then they drop slowly with the speed of the car.

It has also started to Idle a good 300 RPM higher (around 1200 RPM).
It has just started this and is starting to happen more and more, any ideas?
Is this my clutch slipping around in neutral or something else?

Thanks!

vaccum leak will do that.

I'd try cleaning the MAF, air sensor, TB and intake before looking for that though, its cheap to do, $9.00.

I cleaned the MAF a while back, what would you say to do to clean the TB and intake?

Sea Foam Deep Creep. Just spray the hell out of it through the TB blade, let it soak for 20 minutes. Clean the air sensor in the lid too.

Might be a vaccum leak though.

I'll give it a try, any way to check a vacuum leak other than taking it to a shop? Seems like it would be a pain in the *** to me?

Most of the time unless its a really small leak, you can hear it. Its a hissing sound. But there's something that mechanics use with smoke that gives you a visual where the leak is.

sounds like the IAC

my car does this also, never figured out the problem (never changed the IAC either) but when i press my clutch in, my rpm's will hover at 1200 and once i come to a complete stop they will go back down to idle

sometimes when im driving my IAC will freak out and when i press the clutch in, my rpm's will raise to about 1500rpm higher and stay there for a few seconds

sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the small lines that go to the back of the intake.

Well after a long week of being sick I finally got to the car. Cleaned out all the sensors, did the deep creep, and even went to the dealership where a buddy of mine did a look over it and hooked it up to the computer.

We found that the cause of my rising RPM's was a stuck IAC motor. Mine would randomly stick and could not be controlled by the computer. So got that replaced, no vacuum leaks.

It fixed the rising RPM and the idle but for some reason whenever I engage the clutch the RPM's still stick at 1100 or so. Now I am back to my original question, is it the clutch that may not be engaging properly?

The car has 117500 miles on it and I got it when it had around 65000. The clutch has never been replaced to my knowledge. Also, it can be a little tough to get it into 1st or Reverse sometimes... Just a lil extra to throw out there.

Thanks y'all!
