Replacing ECBM 02 Silverado
Does anyone have instructions on the removal and replacement of the ECBM on a 2002 Silverado?
I have a good idea how to do it, but I'd like to have something in writing as a guide.
Thanks

well the first thing I'd ask is why replace it?
is it for sure failed? just making sure.
You have to remove all the lines 7 electrical connectors 7 obvoiusly get them in the same position on re-install.
Then I am pretty sure you have to calibrate the unit w/ the proper tire size in the unit. A tech II usually would be the only option there. Then bleed the system out w/ the scan tool bleed procedure.

We checked the fuse, the ground and all of the connections, which leave the unit itself. I don't exactly like the dealership pulling my chit apart like the Scarecrow on the Wizard of Oz.... and for how much.
As far as calibration, that's been done already. So that's why I'm looking for a unit.

If you replace the EBCM/HCU you have to calibrate it to the vehicles tire size.
That requires a tech-II. Thats the only one I know of that can do it.
What exactly is the truck doing that it needs a EBCM?
Any codes?

Codes to start were C0265 and C0266. I checked the fuse, the connections of the unit, and last night had a guy at NTB check the ABS connections. He scanned the computer and got C0265 again. He mentioned that if I replaced just the relay, it could clear the issue.
A friend mentioned last night that I should go back and check the ground contacts, and clean them off, and get the metal to metal again. So that's what I'm going to try tonight.
I'm glad that I have this learning experience. I'm going to document it with pics.
