I know exactly what your talking about, it drove me up the wall, I ended up rubber banding a shop rag around it to shut it up, haha.

Ok I've changed the water pump. But the car is still overheating. I noticed the lower radiator hose is warm and the upper radiator hose is cool. Also, there is no heat when the heater is turned on. Just cold air.

What's the verdict...a crappy water pump from autozone or a crappy thermostat from autozone? Maybe just crappy autozone.

That's what I was thinking also.

Sucks, I just replaced the thermostat about 6 months ago.

New t-stats don't work alot of the time.

You can always test your new thermostat by dropping it in a pot of (hot) water before installing it. If it doesn't pop, take it back!

I'm about to change the one in my car as it's bad. Is any sealer needed?

No sealer needed for the water pump or the t-stat. Water pump has gaskets, t-stat housing has an o-ring.

Might be crappy parts, but you may just have an air buble that needs to be burped out.

THose are crush type gaskets, as you tighten them the gasket crushes into position, thats why you don't need sealer. Well, they should just fit one way with the holes lined up, but I don't think it matters.

I notice that one side the rubber part is flat on one end and the other sticks out a little. These are ACDelco Gaskets if that matters at all. Thanks again for your help.

Put the flat side against the block.

I have replaced the thermostat which didn't solve the problem. Hoping it's just a bubble as I don't feel like replacing the water pump.

I guess I'll bleed the radiator. Any special trick to this on f-bodies?
