not a hard job at all. i did my own. just take the intake off and it will be right in your face. im thinkin theres only 6 bolts. very easy but the only aggrivating part is putting the gaskets on right and not pinchin them. good luck

It's not bad. I am assuming you didn't install your cam, as it's one of the first things you remove to get to the cam

don't have to touch the intake. Just take the bolts out and it falls off.

dont touch the intake if you are new at taking off the intake you will most likely break the sensor in the back. You can get to it easy just taking off the throttle body if you need more space.

It really makes no difference, the job will go just as smoothly if you leave the intake on, its not in the way at all.

The intake is really a big pain in the *** and like "quik ss" said, you can break things.

I have a leak too but I think it's coming from the thermostat; but just in case it is the water pump, do I just use the 'paper' gaskets that come with the thermostat or do I use gasket sealer as well?

The gaskets are metal crush type gaskets for the water pump that should come with it. No sealer is needed. Sealer will sometimes cause leaks.

The t-stat has no gasket, its just a rubber o-ring. It can be reused many times.

Trying to replace my water pump. It came off without issue but I can't get the water pump out of the engine. How hard is it to take off the throttle body? Is there a gasket I would have to replace or can I just reuse it?

When he said "remove the intake" he meant the airbox lid, MAF, and tubing to the throttle body - not the intake manifold. I also removed the throttlebody.

Instructions with pictures http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=26 scroll down to 'PART 2: Removing the Stock Pump'.

Go ahead and get new gaskets from the auto parts store, about $7/ea x 2. They are reusable, but mine came apart. If you don't use them you can return them.

i will agree with you on all mentioned... the gaskets are not really necessary but mine came apart also and with the car non-op i had to wait till the next day so i could get a ride to autozone...

i took off the lid/maf/tb and the pulley to the right on top if you are looking at the car from the front... its one of the idler pulleys for whoever posted above you tb is not hard to remove at all just open the butterfly to be able to de-tach the cable and unplug the sensor then three bolts

Yeah, the plugs are a bitch. After 11 years of changing mine I learned to just snug the plugs in with my fingers and then literally put the socket on there and let the weight of the wrench tighten, and thats it. Been doing it that way for about 8 years. What makes it hard to change the passengers side plugs is when they are just too damn tight because you have no leverage.

I can do all 8 plugs now in about 30 minutes, all from the top, it just goes smooth as silk. The right size ratchet helps too.

Only problem with the water pump is the damn liberty bell goes off every other sec. Kinda funny at first then gets old.

Dont worry if you dont get it, those of you who have actually taken one off or put one on knows what i'm talking about lol.
