Default valve cover gaskets

i have oil dripping onto my headers from what looks like my valve covers. what is the probability that both gaskets are shot. 123k mile z28.

yeah probably the gasket, i've had to replace both of mine. I dont know if you have an ls1 or an lt1 but on an lt1 the driver side is really easy to replace but the passenger side you will have to remove the alternator to take the valve cover off.

is this something normal and yes it is an ls1. also any particular brand for valve cover gasket.

I would check them to make sure they are tight enough first. I don't remember torque specs. They are high quality rubber gaskets and are usually very durable. If the valve covers have ever been off that is my bet... Mine have been off three times in the last year on the same set

What he said ^^^ check to see if there tight. The gaskets are a thick "O" ring style and are thick enough that the rocker cover will not bottom on the head. If your going to replace just get the GM brand, not verry expencive.

swapped out with some felpro gaskets. problem resolved, thanks guys.

Exactly...cheap easy fix and those gaskets will do you good.
