No, you have to put the key in the ignition, turn it backwards to accessory, then get out of the car and walk around it 3 times. Then get back in and push the gas peddle only 2 times. Codes should pop up.

lol at the guy above me. But anywho i do believe GM cars have to be scanned with a scan tool. That is unless you drive a c5 or c6 vette and you can read them on the dash, but guessing by your screen name you drive a camaro

LS6427, is that CC or CCW?
But seriously, IIRC the OBDI cars could be scanned by a certain sequence, but not the OBDIIs. Your best bet is to find an auto parts store that will do it for you. Or buy a scanner, $50 or so.

Look under your dash, drivers side where your right leg goes. You should see a port/plug in, that's where the scan tool plugs into.

My Dodge Caravan has that-but they are not OBDII codes but instead two digit manufacturer codes-I think that was before 1997 cause after that all cars had OBDII -you read the codes by counting the number of times theSES light flashed after pushing dash buttons in in a certain sequence.

To my knowledge, the 4th-gen f-body doesn't have any such trick. You'll either have to buy an OBD-II scanner (I have one), or get it scanned at AutoZone for free. Then you can search on here to see what the codes mean and how to fix them.

I"m just kiddin with ya.

Go to Advance Auto or Pep Boys...they will scan your car for you FOR FREE. They will tell you what codes are being activated by the PCM and then you can look them up in the book. But...those cheap scanners sometimes don't pick up certain codes on certain peoples cars. The OBDII scanner that the dealerships use is the best one to use.
