I already took that plug out, I did all the hard ones first. so if they leave it out it will be knoticable.

it might not be so much that they torqued the plugs down but maybe more so that they just siezed up in there. This is usually the case of the factory plugs as i dont think they put anti-sieze on the threads.

7 and 8 both royally suck! i'm a pretty big guy and trying to maneuver my arms back there is like threading a neddle with a pipewrench...luckily my g/f is very pettite and loves to help out ...but i know what you mean about the plugs seizing, when i did my first change i globbed on so much antiseize you couldnt seize them with a mig welder!

#8 isn't too bad, you just have to do it karate kid style...lay on the lid, close your eyes and let the LS1 gods guide your arm/hand/wrench along the head to the #8 plug. Once you get the socket/wrench on the plug, you can relocate above the passenger side shock tower, grab the wrench and break that thing loose, then go back to the lid and repeat step #1, you should be able to remove it the rest of the way with your hand.

When i had my 01' i could do the plugs with in 45 minutes once the coil packs were off. I had headers with no AIR also. I used a 1/4 rachet with 1/4-3/8 adapter and 3" ext to get to all the plugs from the top.

on my 98 the only thing I took off was the air tubes. It took me awhile but it wasn't too bad.
