Mr. Gasket head gasket bad out the packaging
I mail ordered a head gasket kit In July 2008. 7 months laster I actually get to use them. When pull the plactic packaging away from the gasket, i notice a layer of the gasket is sticking to the packaging. The layer does not look like any material but a thin coat of black paint. I called the mail order company and see if they would exchange it, but they said no because it only had a 90 day warranty. They ended up give me a new set for wholesale cost and they paid shipping.
I was wondering if any one had this happen to them and did you actually use the gasket with success? Am I throwing away good gaskets? BTY the gaskets cost 69 bux.

prolly just a sealent for the gasket. they are more than likely still good as long as you spray them down with copper spray sealent before you use them. Most will suggest sticking with the gm mls gaskets though.

Sounds like an old gen 1 gasket.
Yes if you let them get hot in the package they will do that.
Spraying with copper spray works.
If this is a gen 1, those gaskets don't work with vortec heads or any lightweight design.
Never seen mr gaskets head gaskets for an LS1.
