steering rack leak.
steering rack leak. I found where it is leaking from, just need to know what i need to fix it, if it is even fixable. what parts do I need? washers, o-rings, seals and such?
I outlined the line that is leaking with my expert MS paint skills, lol.
here is a larger pic of it incase that one is too small.

EDIT: the line itself isnt leaking, its leaking from between the fitting and the line.

Why would you need a whole new rack if just a line is leaking? Get a new line. In the picture above the red square is showing that the bend in the metal line is the leaky spot, right????
the line itself in NOT leaking. mine is also just the fitting. i was just wondering if there was some kind of an o-ring or if it was just like brake lines and it would be a pressure fitting.

Well, I can guarantee there's a way to get at that thing easily, I'd go to the dealership and wander back in the tech area and ask one of the gusy what they use. I've done that a bunch of times, they've always told me exactly what to do. It might be one of those weird ******* tools, ya know.

He never finished the thread but was able to stop his leak by installing a new O-Ring seal. (He got his from a dealership.)

Same here. I just did this last weekend on that exact return line. I got a crescent wrench on there without any issues. The line is supposed to have an o-ring on it so if yours doesn't have one, that is the reason it is leaking. I'm not sure if you can get the o-ring separately or not because I had to purchase the whole line which came with one. Make sure you use a smaller crescent wrench and you should be fine.
well i got it loose and out, i cant seem to digg an o-ring out so i must not even have one, i had to move the alt. out of the way. there was a black plastic peice blocking the removale.
