Default Removing needles from gauge cluster

I am trying to replace the face of my instrument cluster and I can't figure out how to get the needles to come off of the instrument cluster. How do you remove them? I can get all the way down to where I can get all the screws of my face but cant for the life of me figure out how to get the needles of the cluster without breaking them.

I gave them a slight tug but they didn't move...afraid to pull to hard at the time. I didn't want to break them. Now does the actual needle just slide out of the hub or does the entire hub with needle pull off of the instrument cluster?

When I bought my white face gauges they came with a removal tool to take off the needles... I'll post a pic tonight if you want to copy it and make your own somehow.

IIRC the needle pulls off the hub

Thanks for the response. Only reason I am doing this is to correct some rednecking the previous owner did. He put white face gauge on it but it was from a different year camaro. So now the dash lights are the green / orange instead of red and a lot of the indicator lamps line up with the wrong light...as in my low coolant light comes on but on the dash it makes half of the low oil light, seat belt light, and another light come on. So I am going to see if I can find either a stock backing from a wrecked car or an overlay for the pontiacs to fix it. Oh well.
