K&N Filter Cleaning

whats the best way to clean a K&N?

I have had mine 9 years..I wet it with the hose...drip Sunlight dish soap on it and then spend 5 minutes spraying both sides until no more soap is left...let dry overnight..and then use a little bit of 'filter treatment' on it.

I use their recharger kit, available at most parts stores. Don't over oil it and you should be fine. Been using the same filter since '01 with no issues.

Make sure its pink when you oil it - if its red there is too much. Most of them come overcharged out of the box since they need keep from drying out on the shelf.

Throw it away and buy a paper filter. There as zilch HP gain and it does not filter as good as paper. Search it on bobistheoilguy.

And I'd like to add that the oil they put on before boxing has time to migrate through the filter. So put on a little oil and let the filter sit for while.
