HELP! Problem with Window Going Up!
HELP! Problem with Window Going Up! i have a 2000 Camaro LS1. i was letting my power window up on my drivers side the other day and it got about half way up and stopped (it just began to rain). every other minute it would roll up a 1/2 inch at a time but i have to keep pressing the up button (yeah i got soaking wet right before a job interview). it wouldnt go down either. when it is not wanting to work there is a slight screeching noise that sounds like it is coming from under the dash towards the center near the stereo. it did this about a month ago but it just stopped and then rolled up fine. but now i have to do somethin. please somebody tell me what it is. i dont want to fix somethin that is not causing the problems. thank you for any response!!
Its a failure of the cutoff circuit in the motor, which shuts it off when the glass is all the way up/down. (This is very common.) As it goes out, the motor will prematurely cut off.
A new motor will fix the issue. When you go for one, make sure you get a lifetime warranty (you'll be back for more in the future!) and make sure you get a NEW motor and not a remanufactured one. (Sometimes, you get a used shutoff circuit in the remans - they don't seem to last as long.) Last time I checked, Autozone sells new motors in a new design, which is supposed to last longer.

Mine did that for a while. After several months I decided to take a look at it. Only one of those rivets was holding it on and it was literally crooked inside my door kinda hanging there. Went to the hardware store got some small nuts and bolts, drilled out the old rivet and replaced. Never had another problem, been about 1.5yrs now
