Is My Transmission Going Out? The car does fine if you drive at normal speed, but as soon as you give it gas the least bit hard a crazy popping noise comes from right under the gear shift column. If it gets under any load at all it does this...107,000 miles..maybe it's time?

Sounds like a bad trans mount. I would pull it out and take a look to see if it damaged. Just have to support the trans with a jack and drop the cross member, then two bolts to pull the mount off.
