knock sensor

I am having a hard time uderstading what really make the knock sensor code come on.someone help.

Harness corrosion can cause it ,this will give you a faulty connection or the connection is loose make sure it's plugged all the way in last the knock sensor is bad .

The knock sensor is a piezoelectric switch that basically operates on sound. It senses a "knock" sound coming from the block and sets a DTC.

The KS senses an over-advanced timing characteristic (a ping in the engine) and sends it to the PCM. The PCM then retards the timing. It could actually be a bad sensor, or it could be a bad signal to the PCM, due to noise or a bad connection.
