When you recheck the timing chain marks ( DOTS ), go straight up ( 12:00 ) on the crank, and straight down ( 6:00 ) on the cam sprocket. It's easier than both straight up.

Cool

Lets see!
injector 1 is on the driver side. The coil pack connector is tied up to the same wiring.
I think its kinda hard to mix that up but either way I marked the coil harness 1-4 on each side. Switched them 4-1 and no sputter. Switched them back and got the sputter back.
I sent out the PCM to LS1 tune and sent him all the specs. My cam is a big one so that may be the problem.
William said he will try to get it as close as possible but i will need to finish the PCM on a dyno to get it perfect.

We will see what happens next week "As the world turns"

Question

Harness?

So your saying that there is a difference between the right and left side coil pack harness?

The small harness that sits on top of the fuel rail?
Thats odd if these identical harnesses are different?!

Your right , there was no change.

This week I will replace both crank and cam sensors and if it does not work its time to pull the engine.

That is WAY WAY WAY to much. Bring it back down to 58psi and then try again. You can get to a point where its hard for your injectors to open/close

I would also pull the timing cover back off to ensure that your dot to dot. Mine did the same thing when it was off

Question

Finally found out what was wrong.
After pulling the engine and checking the time between the cam and crank and all was fine.
Passenger spark plugs were dry. Drive psark plugs were wet.
Pulled off the fuel press regulator and it was stuck.
After drilling and removing the insides of the regulator I added a guaged regulator.
Put everything back together and the engine started.
Found that the driver side coils were backwards, 1 was 7 and 3 was 5.
Fixed all that and it runs better but....
Driver side exhaust has black and wet sutt while the passenger side is clean and gray.
Hmmm! I wonder if I burned a hole in one of the pistons.....

Question

Looks like the engine is ok.

I just checked the compression and all are above 120psi.

Wonder why the driver side has alot of soot coming out of the exhaust while the passenger side is ok?

Do you have true duals?

You stated earlier that you had the coils misplaced (1 was 7, 3 was 5). This would cause the coils to fire at the wrong times, never correctly burning the fuel in your DS cylinders.

Both of you are correct.

Gas has been sitting for 6 months in tank.

Firing of plugs 1,3,5,7 was wrong.

Im thinking everything is ok now.

Engine has less than 1 hour of run time.

Since I have relocated the coils I just ordered new wiring from http://www.currentperformance.com/Ac...iring_acc.html

Also ordered the module to adapt the v8 tach signal to a 6 cyl bmw tach.
