Alternator pulley?
Alternator pulley? I have recently developed a squeek above 2000rpm, sounds like a nest of wasps in the engine bay.
Anyway! first time it happened I sprayed sea foam around the pulleys, left it over night & it went away.
Fast forward about a month, took it out last night & it did it again.
Removed belts & spun all the pulleys & there is a mouse like squeek from the alternator pulley, put some grease around it, sprayed the belts with vinyl cleaner & wiped them off.
Started car, revved it up to about 3000rpm! and it seems to have gone(for now!)
Are there bearings in the pulley that can be greased? I looked at it & there is a big arsed nut on it that spins with the pulley, but from what I've read on here that pulley seems to be attatched to the shaft of the alternator.

Well it came back after about an hours worth of driving.
I'll take it out with the a/c pulley off though, just to rule that out!
The tensioner pulleys spin freely without any noise, and the belts I got from Thunder racing when I swapped my pulley, so they're relatively new.
If it's the alternator then I'll just swap it out, I don't like the thought of it locking up.

It's not very likely to lock up. . . . It will sound like total crap before that happens(usually).
I run a lot of stuff like that into the ground.
How free does the alternator spin? Does it feel smooth or does it feel like there are spots where it is harder for it to roll?

Verdad Gallardo Did the pulley Last summer & it's been good up till winter when it stopped being driven, I've taken it out a good few times before it started whining.
Used the tool I bought from 618Hawk on here for the pulley install & it slipped on without a hitch & hasn't caused any problems.

I've ran it without the A/C pulley came back, flushed & replaced power steering fluid, came back.
So I've pretty much come to the conclusion it's the alternator, but I'm surprised it would act up so soon, my milage as of today is just shy of 22000.
There's no noise below 2000rpm & above 4000 it's barely audible unless it's just drowned out! & it's always starts after about 17km or when the cars warmed up.
