Default Replaced trans mount and...

Now I have another issue. Because the newer mount's bushing is thicker, he pushes the trans up more, which in turn pushes the shifter up more. Now the side of my shifter is making contact with part of the console. The way I noticed is that when I hit a bump, the whole console moves.

Is this normal? Is there an easy fix or should I just wait for the bushing to break in a little.

you must have the wrong mount installed or your transmission cross member is loose.

The mount looks exactly the same as the one I took out, just a little thicker. The bolts on the crossmember are all torqued exactly to spec and are all locktited in (just blue locktite).

The part that is making contact to the console is part of my billet hurst shifter, specifically the outer ring part of it.

Make one and put it on the top side of the mount.

Yes, it would make it lift more, which is not what I'm trying to do. I have a "spacer" (foam rubber) between the console itself and where it connects to the car. I have it adjusted to be about 1/8th of an inch higher. This seems to be the best method, because I know everything else is solid (the mount, the shifter, the trans bracket).

It works sort of well. I have the front bolts of the console adjusted as far up as possible. This seems to take most of the force off the console, allowing the shifter the movement it needs.



even though its a mustang shifter, it looks exactly the same at that part. The red circle is the contact area
