In 10 years from now, unless that dirtbag Obama has his way and we're all driving electric, 2-seat Fiats, there will be less oil companies than there are today selling motor oil. People are starting to realize, slowly but surely, that all these super-duper oils and filters are "BULLSHIT." And that any filter is fine as long as you're not going 4,5,6,7 thousand between oil changes. I also think synthetic oils are on their way out. In just the past 8 years or so, I can only count 2-3 people out of maybe a hundred that I know who still use synthetic oil anymore, and 8 years ago, they ALL did, 100% of them. I'm turning them all Living proof with several engines can't be argued with. They're rebuilding engines, I'm still driving mine.

I'm not a fan of the Fram filters any longer either. They use a plastic drainback valve that can leak down resulting in dry starts. On an LS1 with the filter on the bottom, no big deal. On my Jeep it's mounted horizontally on the side of the motor. With a fram filter I get loud valvetrain noise on start-up until the oil works it's way back to the top.
Currently synthetic oils have higher API ratings (SM vs SL) than dino oils. I run dino oil (5w20) in my Jeep TJ and synthetic (0w30) in my SS and Sky Redline.
