Unhappy Hissing Sound Coming From Rear of Car

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 98 z28 camaro. I only seem to have this problem when the engine temp gets abobe 200 F (mostly on hot summer days), anyways I will be driving along and a distinct hissing sound will start coming from the rear side of the car, it sounds similar to what a tire slowly deflating would sound like. Performance seems to be unaffected thus far by it, it shifts, throttles, and runs just fine, but I was wondering whether this could become a bigger problem if not addressed soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Dang, I had no idea the differential fluid levels could be a factor, I will def have to check that out. If it turns out not to be the diff, what else could be causing the sound?
