Default AC vacuum pump...help!

well i picked up this ac vacuum pump for when i re-do my ac. its just a cheapo one from harbor freight.

but after getting it and looking thru the directions its kind of confusing.

just wondering if anyone has used this kind of vacuum before and if they could help me out with what fittings i need to buy and what kind of gauge to hook up to it.

any info would be great, thanks!

youll need a set of manifold gauges for 134a to connect to the pump and to the fittings on your suction and discharge lines. you'll probably need some fittings to adapt the flare fittings on the gauges to your A/C lines. as far as that pump, is it electric? i dont see the reason for the air line...

no you use an air compressor. I think it has to stay about 120 psi ther whole time you are vaccumming for it says 5 minutes. I vaccummed mine for 30 minutes to ensure i had all air out of system.

thanks guys, yea its just powered by a compressor.

all i need is a ac manifold gauge set? but doesnt a manifold set have the hoses and fittings to connect to my ac lines?

so i just connect the manifold set to my ac and connect the other lines to vacuum?

the manifold gauge set will have 2 gauges and 3 hoses on it. while looking at the manifold set right in front of you. the gauge on the left is suction side (low pressure) and is usually blue. the right gauge is the discharge side (high pressure) and is usually red. the middle hose is what goes to your pump. you hook your hoses to the fittings on the lines then the pump. open the valves on the gauge set and turn on the pump and watch it do its thing.

ohhh okay, yea i just had to look them up to see what you were saying.

well that seems easy enough, thanks for your help man.

and after i vacuum it, do i just close the valves and take the vacuum off and then connect the refrigerant to that hose and open the low side?

yep you are correct just make sure to close the valves when disconnecting the vaccum and hooking up the freon cans. then open and do your thing.
