Default Waterpump replacement

Zup! My waterpump went out at 101K miles on the SS. Is there a waterpump that's a good product and affordable? I need it asap. Thanx

I just called Napa and they advised me they have a TruFlow waterpump for $105 w/a
3yr warranty. Does that sound reliable? Thanx

I have some autozone one and it's been good for two years or so now.

Tons of waterpumps for sale in the classified section. Pretty cheap and low miles, if yours lasted 100k then save some money and buy a low mileage one from a fellow member. Just my two cents.

I would consider getting your WP rebuilt with a new bearing and seal.

I bought a brand new Delco pump, and the casting was very rough through the water ports. It looked like it was cast into rocks instead of sand.

Perhaps another brand such as NAPA mentioned above are better quality.

Lots of parts I'd buy used. A waterpump isn't one of them. Anytime you've got a used part, the failure of which will readily take out something else that's pretty expensive, the used part is false economy.

Replaced the waterpump on the gf's z28 with a autozone one. It was cheap and has been working perfect since!

Thats a legit point but anything thats mass produced has the potential of failing. I have purchased new parts that fail right away I am just saying and most threads will back this up LS waterpumps are known to last 100k easily so whats the worry in buying a super low mileage one for half the price and getting another 80k out of it. If it were to fail I am sure you can catch it before it takes something else more expensive out. I keep an eye on my gauges all the time when I am driving if the temp goes above 200 believe me I notice.

Also valid points. I'm just not that adventurous. I've had new parts fail too...anybody that's done this for any time at all will have that happen, and more than once. New just lessens the possibility a fraction, but it's obviously not a sure thing by any means.

Very true any part has potential of failing whether it be at 100 miles or 100 thousand miles, so its just like you said a risk. To the original poster it's your choice ultimately but the advice here is second to none.

Well fellas the fix is done. Installed a CAT LS series Hi flow waterpump and a new 180 Thermostat. Everything seems to be working better than expected. I will be overlooking the temp gauge and water in the radiator for the next few weeks. Thanx alot everyone
