Default Overheating when AC is on

I have a 2002 Z28 and my car overheats when the ac is on. The ac is cold and when the car begins to pass the normal temp the ac begins to throw hot air. I drove the car today without the ac eventhough it was 98 degrees and the car was fine. On the way home I turned on the ac to see if it was realy the ac that heats it up and it was. Any ideas?
