Does it start strong and run perfectly while you're driving it around?

Then its just an inaccurate guage.

Well, then it could be a weak alternator or a bad battery.

I use a PepBoys NEW alternator. Lifetime warranty. My 427ci with my 1,000 watt amp stereo system, A/C blasting on high while idling....its PERFECT, never drops below 13-14 no matter what.

$149.00

Check the exciter wire that goes to the alternator. 3 bad alternators is highly unlikely. If that wire is messed up your alternator wont put out voltage properly. The exciter is the tiny wire on the back/top.

That's what I was thinking too. 1 bad alternator, yeah. 2, maybe. 3, extremely slim chance of that.

a link? I just called them and went to pick it up last year.

But.......also do like "brad" said. The excitor wire could be the problem too. Make sure that little sumbitch is not frayed, melted, ripped or worn in any way. Check the plug too. If it looks at all worn, they sell them on ebay for $10.00.

He's in Kuwait, he's not gonna be able to drive down and pick it up. The stimulas package hasn't made that bridge yet.

Ah....I didn't realize the Kuwait thing.

In that case....Mohammed, I suggest you buy this first and splice it in using a "butt connector"....DO NOT solder it together. Then use shrink wrap to seal the butt connector. This might fix your problem.

A remanufactured "Pro Start" alternator from PepBoys is $145.00.

But they said they do not ship anywhere. If you want/need it, you can call them and pay for it, then PayPal me the shipping costs and I can go get it and ship it to you.
PepBoys: 954-726-8677
Part # 8242605 (but double check)
Pro Start......brand
Now, there may be a core charge as well. I doubt you want to bother sending your old core back here for just a $20-$30 refund on the core. So whatever it costs out the door, just pay it in full. No big deal, it'll take me all of 20 minutes to pick it up and drop it off at my shipper.

*****But first see if that new excitor wire works.

What city do live in in Kuwait. I used to fly there 2-3 times a month, love that place and the people were very cool. Sometimes we would hang out there for 3-4 days at a time. We would bring in pallets of .223 bullets and M-16's for the troops in Iraq. Then a C-141, C-130, C-17 or C-5 Galaxy would take it into Baghad. Hell if we were going into Baghdad with a 747.

thank u very much LS6427 for your help and replies , If i bought anything from USA i can ship it to my address in NY and they will ship it to my home in Kuwait , Well i don't think and i'm fully sure the prob isn't the pigtail because i changed it and stills the same , when i installed the last ALT the volts was above 12 after that i decided to test the car and launched after that the voltage reading below 12 , now when i switch on the car it reads 13-12 and after 10 minutes 10-11 VOLTS , I believe i should replace it with another ALT .

how about installing Casper Volt booster with the current Alternator ?

I don't know anything about that Casper deal. I would personally rather figure out why things aren't working normally. If its a short or a bad wire somewhere its probably just gonna get worse.

If you have family in NY, they can go into PepBoys or Advance Auto also and just buy the same alternator I was talking about.
