Default rebuild...

Hey, I was just wanting to get an estimate on what it would cost to have my motor rebuilt stock and if there are any good builders in Oklahoma. I'm in the Tulsa, Ok area. Just wanting to get an idea or somewhere in the ballpark. The motor is still pretty healthy, but it has around 155,000 on it. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I didn't know where else to post it.

Thanks,

Justin

prolly be cheaper to buy a shortblock or find a low mileage motor on this forum or ebay. stock rebuilds are pointless at least put forged internals in it. i would get a built shortblock if i were you.

Alright, I was just wanting to know about stock rebuilds, because I was going to give it to my brother when he graduates. That's the only reason lol. If I was keeping it I would build it.

Thanks fleet

Any local shop should be able to handle a basic ring and bearing job. Talk to Moritz Machine, they're on Admiral between Yale and Harvard. They do alot of our machine work here at the school district (TPS).

Yeah, rebuilding that should be CHEAP. There's a very very good race engine builder locally that gave me quote a couple years ago to rebuild my 427ci., IIRC it was like $1,100. Includes: Dis-assemble and check everything, honing, new rings, new bearings and gaskets and reassmble. $150.00 extra if I wanted to bore it bigger. But then I'd have to buy new pistons too.

So to rebuild a stock engine, I would guess $700-$800 for everything.
