Default 4th gear grinds?

So when I try to shift into fourth gear it makes a strange sound and has to be forced in. When I shift OUT of fourth, it makes a whiney squeak and resists badly. it has to almost be slammed out. Its bad enough to where i shift 3rd to 5th gear directly. Also going highway speeds there sounds like a scraping sound that lasts for about half a second, but repeats a few times. Could this be low transmission fluid or something? It is the V6 3.4L with 215K miles.

Today I tried to go into fourth and once i got in i couldn't shift out for a while. It kicks third gear out sometimes, and in fifth i will get a small grinding sound every now and then. WTF?!?!?!?!

sounds like syncro problems. which means you have to pull tranny and inspect. my dads mustang use to do this and its was in 5th gear syncros bad.

you can drive it. each gear has its own syncro. my dad always use to just drive in fourth till he took his in when he had the time for his warranty. you could probably get more feedback in the manual transmission section also. but i am pretty sure its a syncro.
