Default Air Pump, Help!

ok, just picked up a 99 T/A from California, got home just a bit ago and got pulled over, lucky me. Found out registration from CA is FICTITIOUS!?!? WTF!!

so Im covered with title and what not, anyway my issue is I need it registered and plated in my name ASAP, The problem:

Secondary Air Injection failed?? I have the SES light and a couple different codes, all for the secondary air injection. How can I take care of this ASAP?
I figure a new air pump is in the cards, duh, but in the event they want a first born for one, can I tune it out with HPT?

I understand emissions tampering is illegal and you cant give public help, so if you have an alternative suggestion please PM me

Sounds like one of the check valves is bad. look where the AIR hoses meet the engine, you will see a removable air check valve. They go bad and stop flowing. Replace um both.

Post the codes before just replacing parts. Air check valves throw P1415, P1416, air pump/fuse P0412, etc.

well found out what the problem was. I had a P0410, 412, and 418. Basically was a pump malfunction/fuse out. popped both fuse boxes to find out there was a 20a where a 25a needed to be. The 20 was also blown, replaced it and so far so good. Will scan it again tomorrow to make sure it has ran through all of the emissions tests before I get it emission-ed and registered

I have this same p0412 code after doing an engine swap. As far as I can tell everything was swapped in correctly and you can hear the air pump whistling away, but the code still gets thrown sometimes. Any ideas? How is the air pump supposed to be wired? Right now the air pump kicks on on startup of the car, and keeps going for a few seconds to a few minutes then it shuts off like it's supposed to. But the code is still getting thrown?

You can look up the code description/diagnostics for your year at gearchatter.com, also includes a wiring diagram. Yours sounds intermitent, maybe a failing relay or something.

Im currently having the same issues buddy. I replaced my blown fuse and it went away for a day. Came back on, ran the code again today and now just have the 410 code, which is just air pump malfunction. cant figure it out, Im just gonna say to hell with it and have it tuned out, the thing doesnt do a ****** thing for us anyway cuz at emissions here in AZ they only put you on the rollers if your vehicle doesnt have the OBD port.

I rather turn it off and pull the pump than chase my *** and put in 2 one way valves which are probably gonna be about $20+ each, and then a pump which Im sure is well over $100.

theres also another good site I cant think of right now my dad always goes on. The problem is that I only have a malfunction code (410) now, Im sure its going to be hit or miss, either a pump or one way valves, pick your poison.

I would try and look in the classifieds section here on Tech for the Air Pump. Guys are always getting rid of their Air pumps. You could probably buy the whole Air system for real cheap.

I just got mine tuned out, way less of a pain in the ***, and now I can just pull the whole unit, save the whoping ~5 lbs from the system and never worry about it going out again
