Default Low Coolant Light on

This light has been on for about 3 weeks and I put radiator fluid in 2 weeks ago. I checked it again this morning and it was fine. Is there any way to "reset" this.

The low coolant light being on is a common issue.

You'll have to replace the sensor.

I had a problem with my PS cooler leaking, contaiminating the coolant low sensor and giving a false low light.

I've cleaned mine, after fixing the PS fluid leak, and it worked.

sensor pops right out of radiator. scrub it with an old toothbrush and reinstall.

If that doesn't work, then I know they sell them at Autozone. But last time I checked, they wanted about $40 for it.

That's why I just unplugged the wiring harness to mine....no more light on the dash.

This is bad. The sensor is there to warn of a condition your coolant temp sensor can't. No coolant = bad temp reading. If you drop low on coolant, your block could overheat and start to deform before you even know it.

Is that worth $40??? I think so - but you can get the part less from gmpartsdirect.

check for PS fluid contamination from the PS cooler, if you have one. The PS fluid will cause it to give a false light.

Cut the wire clip that holds it in with wire cutters, remove the old sensor by pulling it out. Slide new sensor in, it comes with a new clip.
