OK here's a good one my "low coolant" turned on like five days ago and has been on ever since ( six posts up). Well yesterday I went to use my windshield washer and of course the tank was empty, so I filled it up and noticed my "low coolant" light is now OFF. WTF? I just checked the owners manuals to see if the light has a dual purpose and it just says low engine coolant.

Just found out I've got this same problem on my 30th. Just noticed it a week ago, but can't remember the last time I started the car? She sat all winter with the battery unplugged and only reconnected it last week, and low and behold, had the low sensor light on. Car only has 10k miles on her and I checked the coolant level and it's fine. So where on the radiator is this sensor and does anyone have a part number for it?
Thanks!

Do I need to drain the radiator to unplug the sensor?

No... but it will save you a bit of a mess! You don't need to drain everything out. Depending on where you are doing it, you may find it easier to siphon some out from the top until the level is below the sensor. (Rather than draining it from underneath the car.)

I did mine with out draining it - but you have to be really quick if you do it this way and you can't avoid a small puddle on the ground.

LOL... me too! As long as you keep an eye on the coolant level, you should be fine.

I'll get around to installing a new one sooner or later. I wish I knew it was gonna crap out because I had the radiator drained last week for the water pump replacement

i'm having an issue with the sensor as well. mine waits until the car is up to operating temperature then turns on even though the coolant level is where it should be.. still an issue that a good cleaning could help cure?

Probably not. Mine went out like that - it was spotless.

The day after my last post in this thread i took the sensor out and it was covered in crud. Cleaned it up and light still came on... 3 weeks later the radiator gave out. It is now full of coolant and light still comes on once the car gets to operating temp... ugh!

Its probably fouled again. What does your coolant dipstick look like? Have you been low on PS fluid? (Your power steering cooler could be leaking...)
