Exclamation HELP! found needle bearings in oil pan

i changed my oil yesterday and i found about 5 or 6 needle bearings in my oil pan they came out when i drained the oil. the car still runs and sounds fine but what the hell where did they come from id like to get it taken care of before something bad happens. any ideas on where it came from my guess would be rocker arms but how did it make it all the way in the oil pan with out causing some damage?

99.9% chance they came from the rocker arms... Pull your valve covers and see if any are on top of the head and get them out. Time to order a Comp trunion upgrade kit or send them off to Harland Sharp for a rebuild.....

Yes those are from the rockers and no I wouldn't drive it. Get them rebuilt/upgraded per post #2. Here>>>> http://www.compcams.com/information/...ionupgrade.pdf

Or send them to Dennis>>>>> https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-s...m-upgrade.html

I have some UNREBUILT stockers that are good I will sell for $50 + shipping but honestly your best bet is to rebuild them and never worry about it again.....

With having no codes thrown and the car seemly running fine I'd be real leary of running it if you can't find every part that fell out. I wonder what could have caused it to fail?

Wow that really sucks. If you haven't done it already, you should drop the pan and rotate the engine by hand-some of those bearings are probably hung up on the rotating assembly and should fall out...

When this happened to me, 29 came out the drain plug and the remaining 4 were hung up in the lifter trays. I pulled the motor, the pan everything only to find them in the lifter trays. There are 33 on each side of the trunion, so 66 total per rocker arm.

Look in the valve spring real good with a mirror, then pull all the rockers and pushrods (label which ones went where) and with a magnet fish around in the lifter trays, you might get lucky.

Good news is that they will not make it through the oil pick up screen, so if they do make it to the pan, they will stay there.

Happy hunting.
