i opened my lid to fill up with gas and heard a snap. i took out the screws to look at the hinge that allows the lid to open and close and reattatched it. but my question is, was there supposed to be a spring of some kind that holds the lid closed? when i drive i can see it open in the rear view mirror. havent called a dealer yet. i dont even know if im using the right terminology to even talk to someone about it. i hope this makes sense (sorry im a terrible speller)

sorry im new to these boards. I have a 2002 pontiac WS6. i have it back on the hinge but it seems to just swing freely and i dont know what was on it that made it want to stay closed. dont know if its a simple part that i can buy at an autopart store or what. any info would be beneficial!

i got my fuel door lid attacthed but i dont know if im missing any hardware. i asked my local car part store. but it was like an autozone. so i dont know if i have to ask a dealer or not. i heard something snap off so i was assuming it was a spring of some sort. thanks for the help guys. i love this site. even thought a lot of the stuff is way over my head. i want to do as much work on this car as i can. and this site has helped a lot so far!
