How hard to replace stock cats?

My car (details in sig) keeps throwing the P0420 code at me. From what I have seen, this is an issue with the passenger side cat. How hard is this to replace? I would like to do it myself if at all possible. Mileage is about 118,500.

If you have access to a sawsall and a welder its pretty easy

OK. That's what I thought. I may take it to the dealer soon and see if my cats still fall under the warrantee.

the stock cats bolt in. no need for a welder. but this is the oppurtunity to get longtube headers and a new y pipe

8yrs or 80K. Out of warranty if your 118K+.

Don't I wish. I plan on keeping this car pretty close to stock as it is my DD and also has 118,000+ miles on it. Plus I also need it to pass emissions and usually don't have much time to work on the car.

I notice that Summit has replacement cats by Magnaflow that bolt right in. Would those work?

I will be replacing the O2 sensor this weekend when I change the oil and I will see if that cures it.

He may be still under the GM extended warranty - 10yrs/120K. BTW P0420 is for the drivers side.

I just replaced mine with the magnaflow bolt ins. I did break one stud in the manifold, which was a PITA to fix. Other than that, the position of the passenger side 02 sensor was a bit too high. I had to bend the heat shield just a bit to make it fit. Then the studs that go to the y-pipe were a bit narrow and had to cut a little bit on the holes for the Y. Hopefully you have better luck.
