Default Turn the ignition, sometimes nothing happens

It started doing this awhile ago. At first, I would turn the ignition and the engine would do absolutely nothing. For a split second I would think it must be dead, then it starts right up with its normal roar.

Now it is getting to the point that I could have key turned for over 10 seconds straight while nothing happens (well the lights and radio come on) and then the engine immediately starts right up.

Sometimes I turn the key and the engine starts up right away as usual. When it doesn't, there is absolutely zero sound from the engine, I mean it doesn't even pretend like it is going to try and turn over. There is just a random delay, and so far, as long as I keep the ignition turned it will eventually start.

I had a problem like this recently till one morning the car just wouldn't start, no power at all.

Problem ended up being corrosion at the battery terminals. Cleaned them up with a wire brush and haven't had a problem since.

Your resistor in your key could be worn out, go to the dealership and get another and see if that helps.

Its the chip on the key. They tend to wear out. Check other things like terminals, ground wires, column. The key should be your last thing. I heard they were expensive.

This is going to sound crazy but I had a very similar "problem." For several weeks it wouldnt start and one day I got mad and slammed the door and all my lights came on...started right up. From that day on I looked like an idiot constantly slamming my door in the parking lot trying to get it to start. Eventually I found it....the bolt that held the negative battery wires to the battery had back out half a turn and slamming the door shaked the wires enough to make contact and start. make sure your battery wires are in good condition and tight

New Development:

The windows are going up very slowly like when a window motor is about to die. I stopped putting the passenger window down because sometimes it does not want to come back up at all for awhile.

It could be coincidence with the ignition thing, but I just replaced one of my window motors less than a year ago. Also, the circuit travels to the passenger window last, so it would make sense that the passenger is having the most problems.

Maybe it is some sort of electrical problem. There was no corrosion around the terminals, and the battery is fairly new.

Are you referring to the red light in the center of the dash board? I don't think so, but I will pay attention to it tomorrow.

Thanks for the help so far.

wtf, my dealer gave me a new key for nothing a couple years ago.

Its just a blank key, you tell them your vin#, they pop the blank in this little box and press a button to see which resistor your key has. I think they said there's like 10 different ohm settings for all F-Body's. Real good security measure right?

Took a second.

Check for bad connection on the fuse named "start" in one of the fuseboxes located in the engine compartment. I had same kind of issue years back when you tried to start, nothing happend. Located problem to the fuseholder.

I have been dealing with this same issue since swapping the engine....I am going to try my other key. If not the fix, how do you check for a bad relay?

I don't no what dealers are you guys at $50.00 for a vats key, but the key blanks are only about $24.00 each and we don't even charge to cut them.
