Default MASSIVE oil leak.. Help!!

I've only had the car for about a month. When I bought it from a friend it had a small oil leak that would leave a spot about the size of a silver dollar. I didn't think it was a big deal since I planned on getting the bottom end freshened up from Futral and installing a head and cam package later in the year. Well, today I noticed a line of oil leading up to where I was parked that I had never seen before. I looked under the car and saw the oil was dripping down the oil filter. I started it up and looked again and it was just running down the filter and onto the ground on a steady stream . WTF? Where do you think it's coming from and why did it get worse? I need help!

It sounds like either the filter is pinching its rubber seal, or the pan gasket has gone bad.

naaa look right above the filter you will see two small bolts that hold a small cover on. Tighten those bolts, THEY ARE LOOSE!

yep sounds as if those 2 bolts have vibrated loose, the oil filter is not on tight, or the oil filter gasket is missing, or the previous oil filter gasket is in place along with the new gasket on the new filter, or the oil pan gasket. I think it has something to do with the oil filter probably seeing as that's where it's leaking at.

Think I located the problem. The oil filter is smashed. I must have bottomed out somewhere. There is oil everywhere. I'll post up pics in just a sec..

It's leaking from where I circled in red. Guess I'll be changing the oil tomorrow LOL. Also, what is the part circled in yellow and what does it do?

That sucks.. my car leaks oil a bit also just like you described!! My car sits there for weeks and notice little drips. My buddy looked and said it was the oil pan gasket..

IDK.. Ported and polished LS10 filter I believe.

Yea. It was on the car when I got it. I just went and picked up a new one a little while ago. I was almost wondering if it is the correct filter

I'll let you know in a bit. I'm headed to fedex to ship some parts and then I'm coming home to change the oil in the car.

This is why people don't like to run those bigger filters. I actually stay away from K&N because of that bolt on the bottom...

At least I assume thats the bigger filter, otherwise idk how the filter got bottomed out.
