Car is making an odd noise?

Car is making an odd noise? I currently drive a 5speed firebird and for some reason everytime i get around 2800rpms i hear a scraping like sound kinda like something is being dragged on the road but as soon as i shift the noise goes away. It only happens at 2800 or around there though. Anybody have an idea of what this could be?
