Default Catastrophic Fail.

My dad's 300C motor died recently. After removing the heads we got an idea of what happened. Somehow one piston's travel lengthened and beat the **** out of the head. Questions: Would it be wise to - try and save the head by a good port and polish? - slightly bore cylinder to save block? Keep in mind: the motor has 88k, replacements are $4000+, and my pops has been laid off so we're limited to $1000.

I dunno if you could port/polish the head and rehone the block to save those items, but you have to figure out and fix the problem that caused the damage in the first place. If 1K is all you've got I'd try to go used but I can't imagine used, functioning hemi engines going for just 1K...
