Taking the filter out and puttin sand in the airbox is a great idea, it will help to smooth out your cylinder walls. You should put it in the oil also to smooth the bearings down, nobody wants rough bearings in their engine

Whoo, slow down! DO NOT DO THIS! Sand is much too course for engine bearing polishing. You need to add talcum/baby powder. If you add sand, you will score the bearings. Baby powder makes 'em nice and shiney...

I commented in the same thread. Guy said the filter fits like ****, never seals, gets stuff in there, etc. Of course he got defensive when asked if he used the gaskets that came with it.

you forgot to add to oil the **** out of your filter till it feels like a sponge for better filtering and air flow.

Why is it always sex with some people? There's one comment about a tastefull/artsy avatar and almost instantly we have masturbation references...

We've all had a good laugh, but in the OP's defense I understand what he was trying to do. The other auto forums I'm a member of all have stickies covering detailed how-tos on the most basic of routine maintenance.

Here's a Jeep write-up WITH pictures...

You are not worthy of owning a nice car if you have to go to a MECHANIC to change a god damn air filter
