Gasket maker on new water pump gaskets? Switch from dexcool?
Hey guys,
I'm doing a water pump replacement tomorrow and was wondering two things (as mentioned above):
- Do I need to use RTV gasket maker on the gaskets? These LS1 gaskets seem to be different than a typical application.
- Can I switch from dexcool to traditional ethylene glycol? Are there any adverse effects?
Also, if theres any other tricks for installing a water pump let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice guys. I just did it this morning. The leak was definitely coming from the gaskets as the rubber on the old gaskets fell off the metal upon removal. We filled with dex cool and it seems good to go.
