Squeaking sound...
Squeaking sound... Alright when I start my car there is a squeaking sound that gets worse as you hit the accelerator and then quiets down a bit until hard acceleration... is this my water pump giving out?
Not the water pump. Probably one of the 4 pulleys, or might be the belt. Take off the main drive belt first (since it only takes a few seconds) to cut the possibilities down by 50%.
Remaining possibilities:
Idler pulley (near water pump).
A/C tensioner,idler, or belt.
Water pumps don't usually squeak. I would regrease the idler pulley. If it still squeaks, it MIGHT be the water pump.

I dont have one... but here is the kicker... when im driving itll obviously make the sound but when i let off the gas it stops immediately then pick up when i hit the gas again... also does it at idle when the car is cooled off

Verdad Gallardo Changed the bearing in the idler pulley... still making sound so we sprayed the belt with lubricant and the squeaking went away and then came back... but the belt is brand new!!!
here is the weird part... without the A/C on the squeak is louder and when you turn on the A/C the squeal either goes away (unless under hard acceleration) or is not as loud

So what's the verdict? What was it. My car overheat badly the other day and ever since, I hear a loud squeak too. Maybe I should replace the idler pulley first before changing out the water pump. Might just do the old mechanic trick and grab a hose...have one end on my ear and the other end scanning different components
