I'm having the same problem with my 96 Trans Am, if I don't have the ac on during very slow stopped traffic it will get too hot unless the ac is on, and I just spent $2800.00 worth of work, new sensors, fan switches, cap, coolant flush, head gasket is fine the mechanic said and since it has boiled over once which was today. Ugh

arctic, did you ever get this figured out? It sounds like your fans aren't coming on unless your ac is on.
