Took 5 seconds to google. It was the first link that came up.

Really though, if you dont about pipe threads I wouldnt try tappin a hole for em yourself. Not very hard to mess up.

AN threads arent pipe thread, they're AN. you dont tap for an AN thread, you use a bung or a bulk head.

I dont really understand what your askin.

To tap a hole for a pipe thread, you need a pipe thread tap. You cant use anything else. For that specific part in your link, you need a 3/8" NPT tap.

If you need to tap a hole for a 3/8" NPT thread, then the 1/4" NPT tap will not work.

There is a difference. Look at the "Outer Diameter" colum and you can see that 3/8" is bigger than 1/4".

How is it not fitting? Is it way loose? When you try to thread it in does it grab a few threads then stop?

the 3/8 is large as hell and wont even screw into the female end. the 1/4 acts like it wants to fit but is way to loose
