Default how to place the 9284pt head gaskets

I am changing the head gaskets on a 98 LS1. Little confusion when i came across the passenger side. Does anybody know how does that gasket face since its the same one as the driver's side. Is the side of the head gasket that says front suppose to face the firewall?

Correct! It is rather confusing. I was freaking out when I first put them on, but everything is AOK. The gasket's also looked perfectly fine after about 1000 miles or so, already taking it apart again.

This should also be in Gen III Internal Engine! Oops!

Self-ported 5.3 heads with bigger valves and LS6 intake.
