does this happen after you have taken off and the car shifts? if that is what is happening, could be your trans mount.

Check your trans and torque arm mounts. If you've never replaced them, don't even bother checking, them, just buy some new poly ones.

it sure sounds like a trans mount to me. did you take it off and look at it? they are hard to tell if they are broken when on the car in my opinion.

replace the tranny mount. Mine did that when I was at the track shifting, sounded like I lost my rear end each time. Replaced the tranny mount and havn't heard it since.

I think everyone is spot on, I had this problem in a 3rd gen car of mine. Sounded like it was kickin you in the butt when you took off hard. Trans mount solved the problem.

Happened to me before with the same exact clunk noise. It was a trans mount.

My guess is the torque arm mount. had the exact same symptoms as u said. but it could be the trans mount also. Does it do it when you come to a stop?
