Default Resetting oil light and capacity?

Guys, can you remind me of the procedure to reset the oil change light and just how much oil this LS1 on my 02 holds? Thx!

Buy 6 quarts. Half quart in the filter, rest of the 6 in the pan. Turn the key to run, press gas pedal down for like 10 seconds, shut it off, should be gone after that.

6 quarts...to reset the light is either like ^^^ he posted or turning the key to the on position(not turning the car on) and tapping the gas pedal 3 times..

is it 6 quarts or 5.5 quarts including the oil filter?

I've never reset my oil light like this.

i believe i did somesthing like turn key to on position but not starting. hold down the button on cluster for like 10 secs. light should flash. let go of button and presto its reset. (may not be exactly right but it should be close lol.)

or it might be something like stand on one foot, spin counterclockwise 3 times, pat head and rub belly at same time, then spin clockwise 5 times, all while holding breath and eyes close..........that should work.

Yeah it was tapping the gas pedal 3 times. I thought about it after a while and remembered. My 98 doesn't have an oil light so I forgot about it.

Yup, just did it last week. The engine doesn't actually have to be 'on', just the key in the 'on' position.
