Rain.. What happened?!?
I drove my car around last night and it was running great. Today I got up and it was raining I went to start up my car and horrible would be an understatement to describe it. It is missing, backfiring, and the motor is shaking so bad it looks like it wants to jump out of the car. It is throwing two crank position sensor codes and the oil has no metal in it. I noticed that some rain water made its way under the hood and had been dripping on top of the intake manifold, and it looks like it is running towards the back of the motor. Someone please tell me its just electrical and not mechanical.
Edit: more info the specific code was p0336 -range/performance

O2 sensors. I live on the Jersey shore and have had 2 cars this has happened to.They are expensive but you are going to have to determine which one is bad and replace. In my past experience it was the fronts that went but its a possibility if you still have the rear O2's it could be one of those as well

Started it up after work today. Its been raining the majority of the day. The first few seconds the engine shook like crazy but after that it smoothed out and wasn't shaking so violently. Btw when I started this morning it was missing so bad I had to feather the throttle to keep it running while it was in gear. It's still popping pretty loud (I can hear it under the hood pretty well) I'm going to check the O2 sensors but, just a thought, is it possible for water to get into the crank position sensor and screw it up?

Update Its definitely worse than O2 sensors. I rolled it back a couple of feet.. huge puddle of oil under it.
Edit: looks like a connecting rod tried to punch through the block. Will have pics later. Broke one of the bolts off my oil pan. The thing ran butter smooth when I shut it off the night prior.

Another update:
I pulled the intake off and it had a decent amount of water in it, not coolant. I think rain water got into it while it was sitting at night somehow. The #8 is the one that blew. The car was sitting at a slight angle with the driver side of the car lower than the passenger side. Is it possible #8 got hydrolocked then blew when I started it?

It could have... You might have wanted to call the insurance company before taking off the intake. Hydrolocking is usually covered under your insurance (comprehensive).

Put it back together and call your insurance company, if they can't help maybe I can.

Call your insuance company they may cover it. Might want to put it all back together and don't tell them you pulled it apart.
I've been trying to preach to everyone to seal the cowling around the windshield so this doesn't happen. Its the 1st mod I did to both my ls1 cars. I watched it in the rain, open your hood and will drip down over everything then lay on the edges of the intake. If the bolts are a little loose (most are) it can seep right past the seals once the engine cools off and the seals and intake shrink. Good Luck
