ok,
I changed 3 things this weekend and seemed to have cured the issue. no more howling or dying in reverse.
first i changed the tranny fluid along with filter. While i was down there i changed the pressure mannifold switch on the tranny. for some reason i couldnt see the car change gears on teh scan tool. like when i would be in reverse it would say 1, when i would be in park it would say 1. its only when i drove off it read 1 2 3 4. but never the park or R. So i just went ahead and changed it.
then i changed the maf with a used maf i got off ebay. (30 dollars haha) its a gm 85mm maf.
turned the car on and no howling and i let the car warm up and i put into reverse several times and it didnt die. I will test drive later on and see if it really is fixed.
I will also see if the power is back.
