Me too, Mine has been quiet for months, then I give a buddy a ride that has never been in my car and then it squeeks. I think I'm going to grease the plastic bushings and see if it helps. It sure is annoying though

It's probably the return spring bushings s comon problem. I have yet to find replacements but lubricating them with white lithium grease helps.

Yep - but you'll find that spraying the bushings is a PITA because the spring and bushings are way up inside and behind the dash. You might be better off putting some on your finger and trying to work it in that way.

With 36K miles, I'd guess that your return spring will go out on you in another 3,999 miles. You may just wait until that happens and you need to put a new spring in. Its a lot easier then.

Take off the two lower panels below the steering wheel. Depending on your body size, you may have to get in the seat upside down to get your face in a place to look up behind the dash.

What kind of oil? You need to use white lithium gerase for metal on plastic.

I never totally got rid of that feel - but did replace my master cylinder with a Tick unit. That one requires that the spring be taken out. (It doesn't give you the floppy pedal like the stock one will.) Since then, life has been great. (Although the Tick MC is a totally different shifting feel.)

I had the same problem and guess what it was...the clutch switch that tells the car that the pedal is down when you start the engine! You can see it underneath, where the midpoint of the pedal arm hits it.

It has a rubber button that goes in and out, and if it dries out, it will squeak like crazy. You can remove the switch (push the assembly up and it will pop out), take it apart, and grease the rubber contact area, or you can also just buy a new switch for like 10 bucks.

Happy thanksgiving!

Used a spray or two from my free sample of Fluid Film on the spring/"plunger" under dash and nows its silent!

The friction point where the clutch engages is much smaller. So, you have to be more precise with your foot and move it just a bit slower as the clutch engages. This is all easier to do if you are at higher RPM.
