cant believe Im asking this....

I cant separate my SLP lid from the maf....I look like a complete idiot with the lid between my legs while twisting and pulling the maf as hard as I can but it wont move at all....I mean it spins around rather freely but will not separate. Anyone have a trick for this??

get a hair dryer out or a heat gun and warm it up and make it a little softer and it will come out . Hair dryer will work and less chance of melting something .

^^Yep i had that problem when i was installing my lid, before i installed it i called SLP and they told me to use a hair dryer or heat gun, it will make the plastic soft and expandable and it should slide right off. I myself used a hair dryer and it worked to install and remove the lid. When it gets hot be gentle, the plastic is soft and could easily break if you are not careful.

I thought that might be the answer but Im a little scared...Im getting my lid and intake painted and heating and stretching dont sound like a good combo for paint

maybe I will just tape off the maf and play it safe....

Dont worry, the day i was trying to take my lid off i was struggling bad, i was at my friends house tryin to pry the damn thing off and couldnt get it. I had the mail man, the cable guy and a couple of mormons riding their bikes ask if i needed help because i was sitting their strggling and cursing at the lid, just full of frustration. I finally remembered that i had to heat the damn thing up to install it, disconnected the MAF from the Throttle body and took it inside, took me like 2 seconds after that.
