Thumping noise when slowing down???
That pretty much sums up the problem. I can hear the thumping really well when I am slowing down from a higher speed. I first heard it when I was getting off the interstate at about 75. It sounds like the noise is from a rotational part. I just had the rear brakes and the water pump done... Any ideas?

flat spots would cause a vibration and noise all the time getting higher or lower with speed its not that. can you feel it or is it more or less a sound? if its a sound then its not gonna be your lug nuts or flat spots either, do you know if they surfaced your rotors when your brakes where done?

i didn't say thumping from rotors did i lol? i just asked if he had his rotors turned if they did a crappy job turning his rotors with new pads then yes they could cause a vibration under braking thumping no. thats why i asked if he could feel the thumping or if it was more of a noise.
bottom line man if your having issues after you took it to a shop and the issues weren't there before take it back and have them look at it its there job to have your car leave the shop better than when it arrived.

Thanks for all the help guys!
This where I am at right now.
Tires are brand new...so no flat spots
Tires are properly inflated and holding air
Lugs are on nice and tight
Now it is something with my rear brakes. The noise only happen when I am braking. I did a test today... got the car up to 80 and slowly applied the brakes. The nosie came when I hit the brakes and the nosie left when I got off the brakes. I had new pads put on and the rotors where re-surfaced.
So I am guessing the guy F'd up my rotors??

I am going to have the wheels balanced and the brakes check tomorrow.

$$$$ saver. My wife came home and said noise in car. I went for drive and sure enough thumping when slowing down. Visual inspection showed nothing. Internet search said check lugs nuts. Front driver side loose. Tightened and noise went away. Thanks for posting these ideas.
