Default AC Belt Removal

This may be a stupid question but can I remove my AC belt and still drive the car with no issues? Reason being is that it's squealing pretty loud and instead of buying a new one, I figure I'd just remove it since I don't hardly use my AC.

Why not just replace the belt? Not expensive and easy to replace. Maybe it's not the belt but the AC tensioner squealing? Pretty sure the compressor runs in defrost mode to help clear the windshield.

Yes, you can drive without it. Its easy to remove...but if you just want the damn thing off, get under there with a razor knife and cut it off in 5 seconds.

If you want to take it off......you first need to loosen the serpentine belt. Then get a ratchet on the tensioner pulley, pull down on it to loosen that tensioner and the belt slides right off. Takes 1 minute to remove it.

Ditto. That's what my squeal was. If you look at the tensioner, and it is bouncing all over the place, it needs replacing.

Do you use the defroster? The A/C is also part of that system.
