Default Service engine light

Last night when I changed the plugs in my 2000 SS I had 3 that the ground strap was pretty much burnt off and 1 that looked like it hadn't fired in a while. Shouldn't a service engine soon light come on for these conditions? I know it works because it came on for the gas cap the other day.

Nah, there aren't any codes for bad grounds or plug wires unless it causes a misfire.

serv. eng. light only comes on if sensors sense what they are supposed to.. no sensors on ground wire. gas cap would be part of you evaporator system...
